Feminism Movement Analysis and Its Alignment with Women's Rights: Contradictions and Similarities at the Intersection of Islamic and Feminist Thought

Feminism, as a social movement and philosophical theory, aims to improve women's status and achieve gender equality. In Iran and other Islamic societies, feminism aligns with Islamic thought in certain aspects while conflicting in others. This article examines the contradictions and similarities between the feminist movement and women's rights in their intersection with Islamic thought. Utilizing an analytical-descriptive approach and library-based research methodology, the article explores the subject in detail. The similarities between these two movements include gender equality, social justice, and the affirmation of women's rights. However, significant differences exist in theoretical frameworks and perspectives on issues such as family and gender rights. Western feminism is grounded in liberal and socialist philosophies, whereas Islamic feminism is based on Islamic teachings and religious sources. Furthermore, while Western feminism seeks to alter family structures and promote women's independence, Islamic feminism emphasizes preserving family structures and enhancing women's roles within them. Ultimately, the article critiques feminist perspectives, demonstrating that both movements aim for gender equality and improving women's conditions, but differ significantly in their theoretical frameworks and approaches to specific issues. These contradictions and similarities highlight the diversity and complexity of feminist movements and underscore the need for dialogue and collaboration among these movements to achieve shared goals.
