This article examines Allameh Tabataba'i's perspective on the role of language and time in the domain of religious knowledge. As one of the prominent Islamic philosophers and exegetes, Allameh Tabataba'i has presented profound insights regarding the interpretation of religious texts. He believes that language and time are significant factors in the formation and transmission of religious knowledge. This study analyzes Allameh Tabataba'i’s views on how language influences the understanding of religious texts and examines the role of time in the interpretation and evolution of such understandings. Allameh Tabataba'i asserts that religious language is not merely a means of conveying meanings but serves as the primary tool for comprehending and interpreting religious truths. He emphasizes that a correct understanding of sacred texts requires an accurate knowledge of the lexical, terminological, and historical meanings of words. Furthermore, considering the dynamic nature of cultural and historical contexts, time is introduced as a pivotal factor in the transformation and evolution of religious knowledge. This article specifically analyzes the linguistic structure of the Qur’an and the influence of the temporal and spatial conditions of its revelation. It demonstrates how Allameh Tabataba'i, through his unique exegetical methods, strives to present a realistic and dynamic interpretation of religious texts. Ultimately, the article concludes that Allameh Tabataba'i’s perspective on language and time can provide a valuable tool for addressing contemporary challenges in the domain of religious knowledge.
