Analysis of the Foundations and Components of the Family and Social Education System in Islamic Teachings

Abstract

This study examines the “Islamic system of family legal education” and its relationship with the “civic dignity of persons with disabilities.” The importance and necessity of this study stem from the fact that, in Islamic teachings, child-rearing is not merely an ethical recommendation; rather, it constitutes an obligatory duty accompanied by legal and religious accountability, the neglect of which may entail serious consequences. In the same context, revisiting revelatory models to address exclusionary attitudes toward persons with disabilities and to redefine their social status also constitutes a religious and social necessity. Using a descriptive-analytical method and drawing on authoritative sources, including the Qur’an, Islamic traditions, and legal provisions, the present study investigates this issue. The findings indicate that Islam, by emphasizing the inherent dignity of the human person, regards education and upbringing as a definite responsibility of the family and, through the practical conduct of the Infallibles and Qur’anic models, advances a participatory approach in place of any marginalizing perspective. Ultimately, the findings confirm that the Islamic legal system, by establishing a coherent relationship between parents’ educational obligations and respect for the civic dignity of persons with disabilities, provides the necessary foundation for their full and active inclusion in society.
